Sofa me, Sofa you.

Aileen and I were in the market today  for a petite sofa for her adorable new apartment. Although our focus was to find the loveseat of her dreams, I may have fallen in love with this little number for myself. It's called the "Westwood", and it handled quite well when I took it for a test drive.

A dress only a mother could love...

Don't ask what compelled me to buy this fabric... although the yardage is purely hideous, it was definitely love at first sight. My vision for this dress was immediate when I saw this print swimming in a sea of $1.69/yard flat fold.

Fall...

This afternoon was 

dedicated to screen 

printing these leaves on newsprint using a 

paper stencil. These 

will look neat on the 

Fall '08 Trend board.

Screen printed mailing labels...

This was my Saturday night, making various screen printed mailing labels.I made these screens out of 3 x 5 wood frames purchased from ikea, I adhered some mesh to the frames and then used liquid block out to make my design.. so easy! 

The gift of music...

Who doesn't like receiving 'the gift of music'? I dubbed a CD for my co-worker today and decided to make it a bit more formal by creating packaging that goes right along with the self titled album "Go Sailor". I love these blank white CDs, perfect for illustrating. The case/bag is made from cotton fabric, complete with metal eyelets for string closure. Leia is sure to enjoy this one...

So, Comic Con was fun...

Oh sweet Comic Con... how I love thee. Thanks to Jeff, I was able to check out the madness and score some free schwag... I know you are jealous of my green lantern ring. 

                   

Vintage things that inspire...

On an outing to the Long Beach Antique Market yesterday, I found some unique treasures. Vintage hats and trims will surely inspire a new dress or two. I also found an old View-Master, complete w/photo slides of Costal California towns in the 1960's... by far the best $3 dollars I have ever spent.

Let me start by saying that I don't paint very often... I was inspired to do this piece in hopes of entering it into an 'underwater theme' art show at the 'Echo Curio' in L.A. last month. Turns out 3 days was not enough time to complete it.
